Study in Europe for Free with Erasmus Mundus (for international Students)

Erasmus Mundus is a scholarship provided by a group of European Universities which co-operates with each other and students have to spend their semesters in the universities participating in this program. I.e. you will be studying in more than one university and in more than a country.

The aim is to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with third countries.

The Erasmus Mundus programmes provide support to:

Higher education institutions that wish to implement joint programmes at postgraduate level or to set-up inter-institutional cooperation partnerships between universities from Europe and targeted Third-Countries.

individual students, researchers and university staff who wish to spend a study / research / teaching period in the context of one of the above mentioned joint programmes or cooperation partnerships;

any organization active in the field of higher education that wishes to develop projects aiming at enhancing the attractiveness, profile, visibility and image of European higher education worldwide .

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

It covers your tuition fee, travelling expenses (flight ticket/train ticket/bus ticket in and around the Europe since you will be travelling between countries and universities in europe) and also students are given a stipend depending upon the program of around 800 Euros a month. Virtually you are not going to spend anything!!

Since the Erasmus Programs policy changes every four years or so I will concentrate mainly on programs available for students in which they can apply and get benefit of the scholarship.

1) Joint Programmes including scholarships

This program is aimed at students who want to participate in a course supported by the Erasmus participating institution.

There are around 138 Masters Courses and 42 Doctorate Courses.

The Masters Courses covers a range of field including:-

Check the below link for the complete list of Erasmus Masters Courses-

The Doctorate Courses also covers the above mentioned fields and you can get the complete list of Doctorate Programs in here:

Steps to apply for Erasmus Programs:-
·       Check the program from the above link and decide which program you want to apply for
·       Go to the website given in the right column of the pdf above and check the requirements and eligibility.
·       If eligible directly apply for the given program through that website itself. You may be asked to pay/deposit an application fee for the program as well.
·       Also, don’t forget to courier your documents (original/notarized) as asked to the respective un      iversity as asked in that website.

Keep in mind that you may apply to a maximum of 3 different Joint Programmes (Masters Courses and/or Joint Doctorates combined) per selection year. Therefore, students are usually requested to specify on the application form if you have applied to more than one programme.

Finished Your Studies In European Union? How long can you stay? European Union Explained

In my previous post entitled “Countries where you can Immigrate/Settle easily “, I covered the countries around the world where you get visa extension and hopefully permanent residence (pr) card easily.  http://www.studyabroadcounselling.blogspot.in/2013/06/countries-where-you-can-immigratesettle.html The countries which were focused on that articles where Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, USA and Singapore.
